FINDING AUDIO-VISUAL MATERIALS |
The Hartfield Library has audio-visual (A-V) materials available in a wide variety of formats. These formats include, but are not limited to, videos, DVDs, audiotapes, films, and filmstrips. Because almost all of these formats require some sort of machine for use, they are all housed in the same location. These items can be found in the Audio-Visual Listening Room that is located on the first floor of the library. This room is used because it is soundproofed, which allows students to preview audio-visual materials while in this room. To facilitate this, a TV/VCR and TV/DVD players and a slide projector. If other viewing machinery is needed, ask one of the library staff for assistance. A-V materials held at the Hartfield library primarily support the school’s academic programs like Nursing, Business, or Dental Assisting. In addition to these, the library offers many titles that students may want to check out for entertainment purposes. Thus while the A-V collection offers such class-related videos as Straight Line Graphs or Glycosis, it also offers popular movies like Citizen Kane, Madame Bovary, or Schindler’s List. To
find out if an item is an A-V item, look at its record on
Voyager.
If the “Location” display on the Voyager record reads
“Henderson CC Audiovisual Materials,” then that item can be found in
the A-V room. Please note
that items of each format are grouped together, for example all of the
books-on-tape (from call number A to call number Z) are located together
as are all of the videotapes (from call number A to call number Z). A-V
materials can be checked out, but the circulation period for A-V materials
is three days. Some
A-V materials that may be useful for individual programs are listed below.
